Big fun for drawers! 8-10 pm on January 23rd ‘08 at the Someday Lounge on 5th Avenue in Portland, Oregon (next door to terrific coffeeshop Backspace) : a chance for animators to down a beer, sit down at a light table with a fat sharpie marker, and draw like a madman for ten minutes, to create a few seconds of animation for a freeform collaborative animated film.
Groups of animators are called up to the drawing area, 5 at a time. Each animator receives 8 blank note cards, as well as the last card from the animator that drew before them. They have exactly 10 minutes (that’s 75 seconds per card) to continue the animation on each card. At the end of that 10 minutes, all of the animators are kicked out of their seats (no lollygagging now!) and a new batch is called to the table.
